PLANNING TO ATTEND KINO

Each year, the KINO Short Film Festival is held in Moscow, Idaho - known as the heart of the arts, and Idaho’s “Fest City”, Moscow is an inclusive and supportive community with a wonderful downtown that feels deeply rooted to the University of Idaho.

HOTELS + ACCOMODATIONS

There are plenty of places to stay, including our wonderful sponsor, The Monarch Motel, and short-term rentals (AirBnBVRBO) available at varying price points and locations, giving you great options for your visit. Some other Hotel options include:

Travel BY PLANE

There are three nearby airports that can all service Moscow. The closest one is the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (PUW), a short 10-minute drive away, with daily flights landing from Boise and Seattle. Lewiston Nez-Perce Airport (LWS) is about 45 minutes away to the south and has additional flight options from Boise, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Denver. Spokane International Airport (GEG) is approximately an hour and 15 minutes north of Moscow, with an easy drive through the wonderful rolling wheatfields of the Palouse.

Travel BY Car

Moscow sits along the route of Highway US-95, which runs North-South from Canada all the way to Mexico. If you’re coming up from Boise or down from Spokane/Coeur D’Alene, you’ll end up on 95 and run right into town. If you’re traveling from the Seattle area, jump on I-90 east, exiting at Vantage and Highway 26. From the Portland area, take I-84 east to Pendleton, then head towards Tri-cities and US 395. We are easy to get to and somewhat centrally located between many large cities and Film Schools.

DRIVE TIMES:

  • Spokane/ Coeur D’Alene - 1.5 hours

  • Missoula - 4 hours

  • Seattle - 5 hours

  • Boise - 5.5 hours

  • Bozeman - 7 hours

  • Portland - 7 hours

FOOD AND DINING

You can find plenty of wonderful options for all dietary needs in Moscow, with amazing restaurants right downtown. We recommend checking out the Moscow Food CO-OP for a quick bite to eat from their hot food or salad bar, wonderful bakery and coffee shop.

Getting around

KINO utilizes many different locations across our community, with spaces both on and off campus. It’s easy and reasonable to walk everywhere, but be sure to build in enough time to arrive at your next venue early and get a seat! Driving is also simple enough with plenty of downtown parking.

Parking

Downtown Moscow patrols its parking from 8 AM - 5 PM Monday-Friday, but it's free for up to two hours, so just be wary and set a timer! Downtown parking is free on weekends, but no overnight parking is allowed on Main Street after 3 AM.

The University of Idaho Campus requires parking permits if you wish to park closer to venues during our weekday events. You can order parking permits and arrange to pick them up at this website (scroll down to see the visitor parking information). Most campus lots are free to park in after 5 PM and on Saturday or Sunday. No parking is allowed overnight on UIdaho campus parking lots.
